The Five people you meet in heaven is a book written by Mitch Albom. This book starts with the death of the protagonist of the book Eddie. Eddie is the head of maintenance in the Ruby Pier Park and a war veteran at his 80s. On his 83rd birthday in the park one of the rides malfunctions and in the process saving a kid, Eddie loses his life and what follows forms the rest of the story. At the same time parallelly his life till that is also told by the author.
The beauty of the book is that the underlying philosophy. The question of afterlife and the why this happens to me alone crop up in everyone’s life. The author had taken this simple thoughts that comes to the mind of each individual and elaborated it in a detailed and intriguing manner.
For a mild read during a travel this book is recommended. One of the best thing about the books is the spreading of positivity and confronting the guilt. Any human cannot escape the guilt and it has the power to consume the person on the entirety. Addressing the guilt, rage and inability in a lighter tone without diluting the points to be communicated is one of the toughest job to be done. Author has excelled in that.
I would give this book a 4 star rating on a scale of five. You can enjoy the book and you will definitely feel the positivity after reading. It helped me in perceiving certain things in a positive manner after reading the book.
